Career CentreThe RSS Career Centre is located beside our Counselling Centre and is a tremendous resource for senior students to research and discover more about a wide range of post-secondary options and choices, learn more about application deadlines and processes as well as scholarship and bursary opportunities.  Students can also explore their interests and determine possible future careers.  Our Career Advisor (Mr. Ng) is here to help and is available 3 days a week from 8 am - 3:30 pm - check the weekly appointment schedule posted outside his office.  Students can drop in to check on his availability or make an appointment to see him. Come to our Virtual Portfolio Review Day and get hands on live feedback and advice from our faculty, on how to make your portfolio the best it can be - before you apply! This will also be an exceptional opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about the programs and application process, and an opportunity for the faculty to get to know YOU!

Whether you're interested in 2D animation, 3D, or Visual Effects, we will have experienced faculty there to answer your questions.

The ONLINE event will run for three hours.

BCIT's Jill of all Trades - Through SD38

BCIT is again offering this event to students in grades 9-12 who identify as female or may be gender diverse.  The event takes place on April 10th.  Deadline to apply is FEB 14/25  

Jill of All Trades is a fun-filled day of practical, in-the-shop sessions for students in grades 9-12 who identify as female or may be gender diverse. This event is designed to inspire the pursuit of careers in the Skilled Trades.

Participants will get a behind the scenes look at BCIT facilities, interact with industry professionals, and join a series of workshops in several disciplines such as Ironworker, Machinist, Cabinetmaker (Joiner), Motorcycle Technician, Digital Communications and Wireless Technologies, Sheet Metal, Auto Body and Collision Technician, and more.

You'll be pre-assigned to a "Try a Trade group" and you will discover one or maybe two discipline(s) that you will enjoy!

MAR 8/25 UBC Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences 10:00am - 12:30pm

The UBC Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences offers the only program in the province that leads to licensure as a pharmacist in BC – the Entry-to-Practice Doctor of Pharmacy program.  Students are eligible to apply for this program after completing the equivalent to 2 full years of undergraduate studies at UBC.  In addition, they also offer a Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences program for direct entry upon high school graduation that lead to careers in the pharmaceutical industry.
They are offering an opportunity for students in grades 10 – 12 to explore careers as pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists that they hope you can help share with your students who are considering a career in the healthcare professions.

Saturday, March 8th, 2025 - 10th Annual Humanitarian in Training Conference (UBC-Red Cross Club) 

 

The UBC Red Cross Club is hosting its 10th Annual Humanitarians in Training Conference on 

Over the last nine conferences, they have welcomed over 750 student leaders from schools across the Greater Vancouver Area. This conference provides an immersive environment where delegates engage in activities, workshops, and discussions centered around key humanitarian issues. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to hear from and network with members of local non-profit organizations. They aim to offer motivated student leaders a valuable platform to connect, collaborate, and contribute to impactful projects.

This year, they are inviting our school to send student delegates to attend the conference. Each delegate will be required to pay a $5 registration fee. However, if 6 or more delegates from our school attend, the fee will be waived for all participants from our school

Scholarships

To browse for all upcoming scholarships, you can simply refer to the CALENDAR (above). Scholarships that are posted on this calendar are "external" scholarships that are granted by companies/organizations (government), institutions (banks/Universities/Colleges), and are highlighted in blue.  HBS(school) will also have an in-school (nomination) scholarship coming out early next year (an application link will be posted)

All scholarships will be posted on this page on this calendar. This calendar has been updated and will continue to do so throughout the school year. It is always best to keep in mind of the applications deadlines for these scholarships to ensure that you have plenty of time to apply to them as some scholarships require much time and attention than others.

MAR 1/25 - Carlton Prestige Scholarships  for International students– deadline to apply
Carleton University offers the following Prestige scholarships to outstanding incoming undergraduate students with an admission average of 90% better. The Chancellor’s Scholarship, the Richard Lewar Entrance Scholarship, the Carleton University Scholarship of Excellence, the Carleton University SHAD Scholarship have a value of CAD 20,000-30,000 while  the Riordon Scholarship, and the Collins Prestige Scholarship covers full tuition fees for 4 years.
