Personal Learning Time (PLT) Implementation đź’ˇ
Personal Learning Time (PLT) is a period of instructional time scheduled at least once a week that is set aside as “self-directed” time for students to learn with teacher support. The goal of PLT is to teach students the skills necessary to use unstructured time in a way that benefits their individual learning. PLT takes place after first block every Wednesday and Thursday from 9:43-10:31 AM.
During the month of September, we will "prepare" students by gradually implementing PLT as follows:
Wednesday, September 10: All students will remain in their Block E class for PLT at 9:43 AM
(Grade 11s without a class go to the LLC; Grade 12s without a class go to the Multipurpose)
- Teachers will distribute and review the PLT Handout and Planner.
Thursday, September 11: All students will remain in their Block A class for PLT at 9:43 AM
(Grade 11s without a class go to the LLC; Grade 12s without a class go to the Multipurpose)
- Teachers will review the PLT Sign-Up process including login information for PLT Bookings.
Wednesday, September 17: Students sign up for a learning space of one of their current teachers
Come with a plan on how to use the time!
Thursday, September 18: Students sign up for a learning space of one of their current teachers
Come with a plan on how to use the time!
Beginning September 24, grade 10-12 students can sign up for any available learning space for PLT while grade 8-9 students can only sign up with one of their scheduled teachers. Students should always come with a plan and prepared to use the time. Students should sign up no later than the Monday before PLT - the earlier the better as some learning spaces run out of room quickly.
