In October 2025, we conducted our first Grade 8 Proficiency-Based Assessment (PBA) in Social Studies and ELL classes.  At the same time, teachers were surveyed through departments on what their observations were on student learning, specifically challenges students were experiencing.

The PBA provided a baseline measure of student literacy and identified key areas for growth that will guide improvement efforts throughout the year.  These results will be compared with a second PBA later in the year to measure literacy growth over time.  Insights from staff will support department and school-wide discussions focused on supporting overall student success.
