Good morning, Colts, 

I would like to acknowledge and thank the First Peoples of the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓  (hun-ki-meen-um) language group on whose traditional and unceded territories I learn and live. 

  Now for your daily morning announcements! 

1. Hey Colts, this week is student council’s first spirit week of the year! Today, September 28 is twin day Monday! Tuesday is orange shirt day. On Wednesday, schools are closed for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Thursday, for clubs’ day, its colour rivalry! Please check out stuco’s poster for the colour that you should wear to represent your grade. Lastly for fandom Friday, show off your merch for any artists, shows or teams you’re a fan of! 

2. Students and parents are invited to attend the annual Global Post-Secondary Fair sponsored in conjunction with CollegeTrackr Canada. This is a district-wide event hosting families and competitive students from across our 10 secondary schools who are highly motivated to explore post-secondary pathways in Canada, the US, the UK, Europe, Australia, and beyond. This post-secondary fair will be on October 5th from 4:00-5:30pm at Steveston-London Secondary School.  

3. Langara College will be visiting RSS on Tuesday, September 29 at lunch in the library.  

4. A reminder to all students that Wednesday, September 30th is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation honouring the Survivors of residential schools, their families, and the children who never returned home. This day is also known as Orange Shirt Day, this is a time for collective reflection and recognition of the message, “Every Child Matters”.  Staff and students are encouraged to wear orange on Tuesday September 29, 2026 in solidarity. There will be no school on Wednesday, September 30th.  

5. Clubs’ day will be Thursday, October 1st at lunch in the multipurpose room, small gym and surrounding hallways. Club reps will be available to share information about their clubs, including how to sign up.
