Good morning, Colts, 

I would like to acknowledge and thank the First Peoples of the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓  (hun-ki-meen-um) language group on whose traditional and unceded territories I learn and live. 

  Now for your daily morning announcements! 

1. Cheerleading tryouts are today from 5-6:30pm in the small gym, good luck! 

2. International students, your first RIE meeting will be on Thursday, September 24th at lunch in the LLC. Lunch will be provided. Please be reminded that this is a mandatory meeting.  

3. ELL 4 & 5 students, you have your first meeting with your ELL teachers this week. ELL 4 students, please meet in the multipurpose room today at 3:10 pm after school. You will be completing a writing assessment, so please bring a pen, pencil, and eraser. For ELL 5 students who missed their first meeting yesterday, please meet in the library tomorrow at 3:10 pm after school. See you then!  

4. Representatives from 14 universities, colleges, and post-secondary institutions will be visiting our school as part of the Post-Secondary BC (PSBC) School Visit Program from 5:00 PM - 6:30 PM, today September 22nd. This event will be in the multipurpose room.  

5. Boys soccer practice today is cancelled. Next meeting is Wednesday at lunch in room 141.  

6. Today is our 46th annual Terry Fox Run. All participants are asked to support our coin collection and donate a Loonie at the finish line in memory of Terry and in support of his legacy raising money for cancer research.  

7. The Colts Card is an initiative we introduced to Richmond High last year, and we are glad to announce that we are ready to re-launch this project again this year. So, if a student has performed an act of kindness, any staff member can fill out one of our Colts Cards with that student’s name to submit to a draw. Starting this month, students’ names will be drawn (one from each grade), and those students will be receiving a free cafeteria lunch. Remember, the idea of the Colts Card is not to buy kindness, but to highlight the care that each of us already exhibit. The drop-off box for cards will be in the front office. Thank you, Colts, for all your efforts of being kind, caring and respectful.
