Student Vote 2024
Student Vote is a national program that provides students with the opportunity to experience the voting process firsthand and practice the habits of active and informed citizenship. It is a parallel, mock election for students under the voting age, coinciding with official election periods. Approximately 175,000 students across BC are registered to participate in Student Vote BC 2024. On October 15 and 16, Richmond Secondary School students will cast their ballots to vote for their desired candidate in our school's riding, Richmond Centre. Participating in the Student Vote campaign helps to educate our students and to encourage them to vote in future elections. Voting is important – participate in our democracy!
We encourage students, parents, and families to engage in the upcoming provincial election and openly discuss issues that are important to you and your family. Similarly, read and listen to news stories from multiple sources. Be a critical thinker and discuss both sides to all issues – are the campaign slogans, promises, and rhetoric accurate? To vote in a provincial election, you must be registered on the list of electors. For information on voter registration and where and how to vote, go to the Elections BC website at https://elections.bc.ca.
