We are now half way through our school year. At this point, if you have already made your Post Secondary applications that's great.  For those who are still undecided and would like some help and advice, please drop by the Career office (next to Counselling) and we can come up with a plan.

Hello future Post Secondary students!

While you're waiting for your university (Post secondary school) offers in April and beyond, try to have several productive and meaningful ways to use your time:

1. Stay Engaged Academically

• Continue focusing on your classes and maintain strong grades, as universities may request final transcripts before confirming admission.

2. Get Involved in Extracurricular Activities

• Join or continue participating in clubs, sports, volunteering, or creative projects. These activities not only enrich your high school experience but also demonstrate qualities like leadership, commitment, and time management, which universities value.
• Try something new or deepen your involvement in an area you’re passionate about—this can help you discover new interests or develop valuable skills.

3. Build Your Resume and Activities List

• Prepare a list of your extracurricular activities, work experience, and achievements. This can be useful for scholarship applications or future university opportunities.

4. Apply for Scholarships and Awards

• Use this time to research and apply for scholarships, bursaries, and other financial aid. Many awards have deadlines in the spring, and Grade 12 is often the best time to secure scholarships for university.

5. Explore Pre-College or Enrichment Programs

• Consider enrolling in pre-college summer programs, online courses, or workshops. These can help you earn credits, explore potential majors, and show initiative to universities.

6. Volunteer or Work Part-Time

• Volunteering or working part-time can help you gain valuable experience, contribute to your community, and develop transferable skills.

7. Prepare for the Transition to University

• Research your chosen universities, learn about campus life, and connect with future classmates or student groups online.
• Start planning for housing, budgeting, and other aspects of university life.

8. Take Care of Yourself

• Make time for relaxation, hobbies, and self-care. The application process can be stressful, so it’s important to recharge and enjoy your final months of high school.

By staying active and engaged, you’ll not only make the most of your time but also set yourself up for a smooth and successful transition to university.

Scholarships that are posted on this calendar are "external" scholarships that are granted by companies/organizations (government), institutions (banks/Universities/Colleges), and are highlighted in blue.  HBS(school) will also have an in-school (nomination) scholarship coming out early next year (an application link will be posted)

All scholarships will be posted on this page on this calendar. This calendar has been updated and will continue to do so throughout the school year. It is always best to keep in mind of the applications deadlines for these scholarships to ensure that you have plenty of time to apply to them as some scholarships require much time and attention than others.

MAR 1/25 - Carlton Prestige Scholarships  for International students– deadline to apply
Carleton University offers the following Prestige scholarships to outstanding incoming undergraduate students with an admission average of 90% better. The Chancellor’s Scholarship, the Richard Lewar Entrance Scholarship, the Carleton University Scholarship of Excellence, the Carleton University SHAD Scholarship have a value of CAD 20,000-30,000 while  the Riordon Scholarship, and the Collins Prestige Scholarship covers full tuition fees for 4 years. Alpha Gamma Delta UBC Entrance Award ($2000)

Alpha Gamma Delta is an international women's organization committed to providing opportunities

The Alpha Gamma Delta UBC Entrance Award is a $2,000 award for an outstanding all-round

female secondary school graduate entering the University of British Columbia (UBC) - Vancouver in

September 2025. We look for students with a sense of purpose who exemplify the values that have

defined Alpha Gamma Delta since our founding in 1904. Application deadline: March 15, 2025.
