This student club organizes, promotes and hosts sustainability and environmental stewardship events and campaigns. Being one of the largest clubs at Richmond Secondary, they are a truly a grassroots force! The club has achieved many impressive feats in recent years including installing solar panels on our school roof, planting a Butterflyway Pollinator Garden in our Outdoor Learning Environment and were substantially involved in our Miyawaki Pocket Forest. Miyawaki Pocket Forest
Garden City Conservation Society
Garden City Conservation Society (GCCS) is a non-profit that successfully established the 136 acres at Garden City Lands as park space in Richmond. Their goal is to steward Richmond's natural legacy for community wellness. Their member, Bruno Vernier, is our resident Miyawaki Pocket Forest (MPF) expert and was our lead advisor on the project. Since this is the first MPF in BC, it will provide educational and research opportunities for years to come.
