Student Vote Canada 2025
Student Vote is a national program that provides students with the opportunity to experience the voting process firsthand and practice the habits of active and informed citizenship. It is a parallel, mock election for students under the voting age, coinciding with official election periods. Over 7000 schools across Canada are registered to participate in Student Vote Canada 2025. On April 23 and 24, Richmond Secondary School students will cast their ballots to vote for their desired candidate in our school's riding, Richmond Centre – Marpole. Participating in the Student Vote campaign helps to educate our students and to encourage them to vote in future elections. Voting is important – participate in our democracy!
We encourage students, parents, and families to engage in the upcoming federal election and openly discuss issues that are important to you and your family. Similarly, read and listen to news stories from multiple sources. Be a critical thinker and discuss both sides to all issues – are the campaign slogans, promises, and rhetoric accurate? To vote in a federal election, you must be registered on the list of electors. For information on voter registration and where and how to vote, go to the Elections Canada website at https://elections.ca.
