Graduation Assessment Days

The GRADUATION NUMERACY ASSESSMENT 10 (GNA 10) will be held at Richmond Secondary School on April 16 and 17.  All current Grade 10 students (and any grade 11-12 students who have not written the GNA 10) are registered to write the GNA 10 on these two days.  On our April Graduation Assessment Days we will follow an alternate bell schedule that includes two 80 minute PLT blocks.  Here is the schedule:

Please note the following instructions for April 16 and 17:

     •  Students scheduled for the GNA 10 should arrive by 8:00 AM to their assigned location.
     •  Grade 11s will report to the large gym at 9:00am on April 17 for career education learning activities.
     •  Grade 12s will report to the large gym at 9:00am on April 17 for career education learning activities.
     •  All other grade 8-12 students sign up for a PLT session.

Students must check their assessment date and time and location on the posted schedules.  Schedules have been put up around the school and have also been posted on MS Teams.

* * GNA REMINDERS * *

Numeracy is the willingness and perseverance to interpret and apply mathematical understanding to solve problems in contextualized situations, and to analyze and communicate these solutions in ways relevant to the given context.

The Numeracy Assessment is not a typical “math test” and will include 24 common questions and a student choice section (answer 2 of 4). The questions will be context placed problems that students will read, think about and present a solution.  The GNA measures 5 numeracy processes, including students’ abilities to INTERPRET, APPLY, SOLVE, ANALYZE and COMMUNICATE solutions. The GNA is not attached to any course, but reported separately on each student’s official Transcript using a 4-point scale –

1. Emerging   2. Developing   3. Proficient   4. Extending
