Sustaining Progress

To sustain progress and share our work with new colleagues, all staff were provided with a colour poster (11 X 17 inches) of the RHS Learner Profile on the first day of school for 2019-2020. We discussed the connections between the Learner Profile and the Core Competencies and the I.B. Learner Profile and urged staff to make this "more than just another poster". That is, continue to use the language of our desired attributes to frame lesson and unit planning and to use the language regularly in class to describe the "why" of all learning activities. Our goal is to develop responsible, caring, reflective and resilient young people who can think and communicate effectively.

We also began our September Educational Facilitators' meeting by sharing this RHS student video that speaks to the remarkable power of competency-based educaton and student reflection:

We encourged our Educational Faciltators to keep this conversation alive in department meetings this year.
