Core Competencies

All RHS teachers use the language of the core competencies, along with the IB Learner Profile and the RHS Learner Profile, to support and frame student learning. Students are regularly invited to consider these attributes and competencies and reflect on their personal strengths and areas for growth. All Grades 11 and 12 students completed core competency reflections online as part of their Graduation Transitions work in 2018-2019, including creating a short capstone video using the language of the core competencies to explain their learning.

All RHS Grades 8-9-10 students will formally reflect on the core competencies in all of their classes on May 28 and 29. Grades 8-9-10 students will also attend assemblies on May 30 to learn how to login to the SD38 Portal and complete their core competency reflections online. Students are encouraged to consider their growth in all areas, but our focus for junior students this year will be SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY and CRITICAL THINKING.

See the attached reflection templates that Grades 8-9-10 students will be using in 2018-2019

Also see attached the instructions for logging on to The Portal to complete the reflections online.
