Scholarships are available in three broad categories - school based, university/college based, and outside organization based. All Grade 12s are encouraged to check our Career Advisor's website and the bulletin board near the Counselling Centre for scholarship news and read the application criteria and apply by the published deadlines.  Richmond Secondary School students must apply to be considered for Richmond Secondary School scholarships as well - the application form is available online only, on the school website, and is due by April 17, 2020.

Information on B.C. Ministry of Education Scholarships can be found at:

Grade 12s will check their Transcript Verification Report (TVR) carefully to be sure they have all the courses they need to graduate including Graduation Transitions (GT), and to confirm their achievement in each course.  TVRs are distributed in the fall and spring.  Students must also meet all the prerequisite course requirements of the post-secondary pathway they are interested in (e.g. Sciences at UBC, Arts at SFU, Math at UofT, Broadcasting at BCIT, etc.).

The Post Secondary Institutions (PSI) Selections will be completed online to allow the Ministry to send school marks to the post secondary institutions grads choose.  The PSI selections will be completed online and should be done as soon as Grade 12s begin applying to post-secondary schools. This is completed on the Ministry's Student Secure Web (link is external)

Grads are encouraged to see their counsellor early in the year if they have any questions about their TVR or PSI or post-secondary application processes.

Most Grade 12s & parents will have many questions about post-secondary options, application processes and deadlines and what to do next year and how to do it.  Helpful places to begin:

Grade 12 Parent Info Night - October 9, 2019 at 6:30 PM in the Multipurpose Room.

Post Secondary Sessions - Grade 12s are urged to attend the many lunch and/or afterschool sessions with various post-secondary schools.  (See the RSS school calendar on the website for dates and times) and the Canadian Universities Event (held at McNair on October 3) or the RHS Post-Secondary Fair after school on October 10.

Post-Secondary Institution Websites:  Every institute, college and university in the world will have a website especially designed for potential incoming students - check these out regularly.  Just a few examples:

University of Toronto:

University of Waterloo:

Counselling & Career Centres - Check out the info board by the Counselling Centre and book a time to meet with your counsellor and our Career Information Advisor Ms. Jones.

Remember, all Grade 12 students must complete at least 6 courses at RSS in their Grade 12 year and complete the online 2020 RHS Scholarship Application form by April 17 to be eligible for any RHS scholarship. Grade 12s are also required to submit their paper Service Hours Form by April 17 as well. These paper forms (on pink paper) are available in the main office.

The two helpful Grade 12 documents below will be updated as soon as the Ministry of Education publishes the 2019-2020 versions.
