On Wednesday, November 16 at 7pm in the Richmond Secondary School Multipurpose Room, the Richmond School District, in cooperation with the Richmond District Parents' Association, RCMP, Vancouver Coastal Health, Richmond Addiction Services, Richmond Fire and Rescue and the BC Ambulance Service will be hosting a public forum on "drugs and drug overdoses" that have plagued the Greater Vancouver Area during the past year. Parents are encouraged to attend and listen to community health experts, police and First Responders and find out more. There have been over 550 apparent illicit drug overdose deaths in B.C. from January to September 2016 and this a 60% increase over the same period in 2015. Drug overdoses and deaths don't just happen to addicts and many of the tragedies involved the synthetic opioid fentanyl and often the victims, including many young people, were unaware that is what they were consuming. Please read the attached information sheets for more information on drug use and plan to attend the evening session on November 16.
