Our 88th Valedictory Ceremony on Wednesday June 8 was a classy and memorable event for our graduates of 2016. Just over 1,000 grads, staff, special guests, alumni, parents, family and friends helped celebrate our graduating students in the beautiful Chan Centre for Performing Arts at UBC. The speeches were hopeful, the Alumni presentation to Ms. Kay Sakata (RSS grad of 1934) was uplifting, the class Historian Brian Fabula and Valedictorian Daphne Hong represented their classmates with great style, humour and passion, the grad choral group performed brilliantly and, most importantly, we celebrated each of our graduating students with dignity, respect and honour as they walked across the stage. There was a large and impressive turnout of staff and the grads and their families were very appreciative, both of the beautiful ceremony and the genuine support and care demonstrated by so many. Based on the incredible number of scholarships and post-secondary entrance awards granted to our grads, they are sure to continue to do very well in the road ahead. It was a great night of celebration for our entire school community - thank you and all the best to our 2016 grads!
A reminder that the formal Dinner & Dance will be on June 29 at the beautiful Pan Pacific Hotel in downtown Vancouver and the exciting Dry After Grad will occur immediately afterwards, back at the school. Grads - you can still get your tickets from Ms. Campos for these wonderful opportunities to celebrate with your friends and fellow 2016 RHS grads one final time!
