As part of ongoing discussions in many of our classrooms, RHS students have been engaging in the issues, the candidates, the political parties and their platforms for the upcoming Canadian federal election. At Richmond Secondary School, our students will again participate in Student Vote to help educate our students and to encourage them to vote using real/replica ballots for actual candidates in our local constituency. Hopefully students will learn from these experiences and choose to vote in elections once they are eligible in the near future. Voter turnout among young voters aged 18 to 24 has improved over the years, but is still one of the lowest. In a healthy democracy, citizens are engaged and thoughtful about important issues and actively participate in elections by voting.
RHS students can vote for the RICHMOND CENTRE federal candidate and political party of their choice on September 16 and 20. We will publish our school results just after the September 20 election.
