Richmond Secondary School counsellors will host Grades 8-11 assemblies for current Grades 8-9-10-11 students on Wednesday, January 29 and students will receive a personalized course selection form (in their 2-4 class), learn about options for courses, graduation requirements and post-secondary prerequisites to prepare them for choosing their courses for next year. We will also host a parent-info session for parents of current Grade 7s at 7:00pm in the theatre on Wednesday, February 12. Our timetable and staffing for 2020-2021 iss determined based on student enrollment and course requests, so students must select courses carefully, taking into consideration their summer school and online learning plans. It is difficult to make course changes later in the process. Grades 8-11 students will have an opportunity to check and confirm their course selections later in the spring. Students and parents are encouraged to read the online course descriptions, discuss options with their classmates and current teachers and choose courses thoughtfully.
Please read the 2020-2021 RHS course descriptions online under STUDENTS > Program Planning & Course Selection on the school website: http://rhs.sd38.bc.ca
Be sure to carefully enter your course requests on the MyEducation BC Student Portal and get your completed course selection form signed by parents and submitted to the office by Wednesday, February 12. This is important. All student course requests will be checked by RHS counsellors and if students or parents have any questions about the course selection process, contact your counsellor.
Current "Grade 12 aged" students who want to return next year to complete graduation requirements must make an appointment to see their counsellor to confirm their return and select courses. Do this as soon as possible as course selection is important!
