Welcome Grade 8s!
We are looking forward to welcoming our incoming Grade 8 students at our annual Camp and Sleep-Over in September. RHS staff and 46 Grades 11-12 student-leaders have been working together to plan another safe, fun and inclusive event to welcome Grade 8s (the RHS Grad Class of 2024) on September 20-21, 2019. The two-day event will include fun activities both at the school and in the community, goal setting and tips for success in high school, eating three catered meals and enjoying snacks together and listening to current university students and former Colts share their tips for success. Each Grade 8 will receive a keepsake Grad 2024 lanyard and conclude the camp by writing a letter to themselves that will be saved and returned to them at their graduation prom in June of 2024.
What recent Grade 8s had to say about camp:
"It was so much fun and I met lots of new people and made some friends and I feel like I am actually a Richmond Colt now!"
"The camp leaders were awesome and so nice. Thank you!!"
"Our camp leader is in Grade 12 and she was so cool and nice. I loved the fun events and skating was a blast..."
"I was nervous about coming to Camp, but I am so glad that I did and I laughed a lot and had fun. Our leaders demonstrated kindness, care and respect all the time! Thank you for everything!!!"
For more information, please call or email Mr. Winograd, Ms. Chan or Mr. Allison at the school. To build a stronger sense of community, it is important that all Grade 8s attend Camp. If Grade 8 parents have not already done so, please read and complete the registration package below along with a cheque for $50 and drop this off at the RHS office ASAP. Please note, this low fee has been subsidized by the school.
