At RHS, we encourage students to explore, understand and appreciate their own culture as well as the beliefs and backgrounds of others, as these relationships and cultural contexts help shape who they are. We are incredibly fortunate in Canada; a safe, free and prosperous nation and it is important to celebrate what it means to live in Canada. Canada is a diverse nation and was the first country in the world to adopt multiculturalism as an official policy. The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms is part of our constitution and ensures that all citizens are equal and have the freedom to preserve, enhance and share their cultural heritage.
February 15 is officially "National Flag Day of Canada" as our distinctive red maple leaf flag was adopted on this day in 1965. To celebrate our great country and to show our support for the Canadian athletes at the XXIII Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea, we encourage all students and staff to wear red or Team Canada clothing on Thursday, February 15.
